Soft enamel coins are the most popular coin style we offer due to their versatility, affordable pricing and high perceived value. If you're not sure what coin type to order and you're not trying to replicate a photograph, you can't go wrong with this option.

Hard enamel challenge coins don't work for every design, but when it's applicable, the result is a gorgeous final product. Since the metal is polished after the color is applied, some designs with too much detail aren't a great fit for hard enamel. The really small details end up getting polished away, making text hard to read or design components difficult to recognize. If you're dead-set on a hard enamel coin, our expert design team can help rework the art to get it ready for a hard enamel process. Hard enamel challenge coins have a few extra steps compared to soft enamel challenge coins so allocate a few extra days on production.

We recommend this style if you're looking for an all metal, shiny challenge coin with no enamel. The raised areas on the coin are polished to give them a shiny appearance compared the recessed, sand-blasted (read: textured) background. Since light will reflect off the polished areas, some of the shiny details will be tough to see at certain angles. Choose this option if you want a challenge coin that looks like it was minted.

If you want an all metal challenge coin with no colorfill, this is the best option for you design. The diestruck antique coins come in a variety of plating colors (gold, silver, bronze, copper etc) and allow for very intricate designs to render well on the final product. The raised details will be a little shinier relative the darker recessed areas on the completed coins, so make sure your art is set up with that in mind. Custom diestruck challenge coins can be produced faster than enamel coins so they're a great solution if you need challenge coins quickly. Customers frequently order this challenge coin style when wanting to replicate a distressed looking artifact or pirate coin.
